Christie lists the Griffyn Series and the Sapphire 4K40-RGBH as the affected products. It adds high frame rate 4K, active 3D and very high frame rate 2K to a projector already in the rack or on the rig, without changing the chassis. It is delivered as a license file, not a physical part.

How does the Christie 163-163101-01 work?

A standard Griffyn projector runs at 24 to 60 Hz. Christie's Mirage option raises that to 4K at 120 Hz and 4K 3D at 60 Hz per eye. Mirage Pro, which this kit enables, includes everything in Mirage plus 2K-resolution 2D content at 240 to 480 Hz (scaled), 2K-resolution 3D content at 120 Hz per eye, and Christie View, a simultaneous multi-content viewer. Christie View lets one projector show multiple inputs overlaid on each other, supporting four mono (2D) views at 60 Hz per user or two stereo (3D) views at 60 Hz per eye.

Installation is done in software. Christie Technical Support issues a license file (.key) that is valid only for the projector serial numbers specified at the time of order. The license is applied with the Christie Projector License Utility in Christie Twist version 2.8 or later, with the projector and computer on the same Ethernet network, and the projector is rebooted afterward. For large-venue and simulation projects we collect serials up front, bring projectors to current software, and verify that image generators and signal paths can actually deliver the higher frame rates before the license is applied.

What are the key features of the Christie 163-163101-01?

Direct path to Mirage Pro — Upgrades a non-Mirage projector to Mirage Pro in one step.

4K at 120 Hz — Includes the Mirage capability of 4K 2D at 120 Hz and 4K 3D at 60 Hz per eye.

2K at 240 to 480 Hz — Adds scaled 2K 2D content at very high frame rates for fast-motion and simulation content.

2K 3D at 120 Hz per eye — Supports high frame rate stereoscopic content.

Christie View — Displays multiple inputs from one projector simultaneously for multi-viewer applications.

Serial-locked license — The .key file is valid only for the serial numbers on the order.

Applied with Christie Twist — Uses the Projector License Utility in Twist v2.8 or later over Ethernet.

Where is the Christie 163-163101-01 typically used?

Simulation and training rooms

Research and visualization labs

Auditorium and large immersive venues

Broadcast studio and virtual production stages

Government space with simulation or multi-viewer needs

Technical Specifications

<colgroup>
<col style="width:42%">
<col style="width:58%">
</colgroup>

Part number

163-163101-01

Upgrade

Non-Mirage to Mirage Pro

Affected products

Griffyn Series, Sapphire 4K40-RGBH

Mirage capability

4K 2D at 120 Hz; 4K 3D at 60 Hz per eye

Mirage Pro additions

2K 2D at 240-480 Hz (scaled); 2K 3D at 120 Hz per eye; Christie View

Christie View

4 mono views at 60 Hz per user or 2 stereo views at 60 Hz per eye

Delivery

License file (.key) from Christie Technical Support

Required software

Christie Twist v2.8 or above

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Christie 163-163101-01 a physical kit?

No. It is a license file from Christie Technical Support, applied through Christie Twist.
